My life in iPhone photos

Here’s a bit of my life as of late:

What’s that? 111 points for the word “handout”?! Yes I did.

Perusing the dollar store, I found this Lisa Frank gem which brought back memories of scrunchies and ruffled socks with my over-sized sweatshirts. (I seriously didn’t realize LF was still around!)

My dress form came! She’s perfect. My friends and family are a bit creeped out by her. I haven’t named her yet. Any suggestions?

My V-day loot including my favorite mug from this post! I bagged a winner, ladies. He’s all mine!

My first time to hold my precious nephew, Shep. Can you tell I’ve been bawling? *sigh* it was magical.

Snowpocolypse 2011: apparently peanut butter m&ms make for good rations around the office. Those folks get HUNGRY! Less than 24 hours for this giant bag to vanish!

I saw a pillow that I wanted, but I didn’t want to pay $30 for it, so I just made one instead! Want to learn how? I’ll teach you!

And love notes from my husband, written on my hand during church. I like how he had to include our wonder dog too. <3

Life looks pretty good through the lens of my iPhone these days. It’s even better in real life!

The Makings of a Weekend: An Afternoon with Kara

DSC_0250editedbanner

This weekend I was privileged to snap some photos of a beautiful little girl who’s about to turn four years old! Kara is the daughter of my friend and coworker, Kristina.  Kara has Rhett syndrome and she and her momma have gone through a lot together while seeking treatment for her disability, but Kara was all smiles for her big girl photo shoot this weekend! She has the sweetest spirit and is just a doll! (and WHOA those eyelashes!) Thanks so much, Kristina and Kara for letting me hang!

We’ve earned this…

I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve ready for this weekend since last weekend! The weather this week has been incredible! We even broke 80 degrees yesterday! It looks like more of the same for Saturday and Sunday, so I’m grabbing a friend and her daughter to do a little photo shoot in Bethany! I can’t wait!

I’ll also be doing a bit of painting using some grey and white inspiration

What are your plans for the weekend?

The Makings of a Weekend: The SJ Love Edition

The theme of the weekend was love. Obviously, it’s Valentine’s Day so love is everywhere right now! But I was mostly focused on loving on this little guy this weekend:

I finally got to meet my nephew, Shepherd! We had our first snuggle on his due date! (you’ll recall that he was born nearly two months early!) We’re so very blessed to have such a precious, tiny little boy in our lives!

February Goals

It’s a new month! (okay, we’re a little slow on the uptake around here, but it’s still new-ISH) I’m so excited for what February has to bring! Every year, I love Valentine’s Day more and more- it’s quickly becoming one of my favorite holidays! (although, admittedly, it might just be my love for a well-thought red and pink color scheme and all things heart-shaped… but whatev) Along with my New Year’s Resolutions (seen here, here, and here), I’ve given myself a few goals for the month and I thought I’d share:

1. Spring-ify my Surroundings. So what if there’s snow on the ground and more on the way? Maybe if I force a little Spring into our little abode, the weather will get the hint and follow suit! On the list: pretty throw pillow shams, brighten up the lamps, breathe new life into an old chair, and switch out those spicy-scented candles to some light, airy spring scents!

2. Finish decorating my office and share photos! I moved into my office about a month ago, and I’ve since turned it into a bright, happy place to work! Just a few more touches and it’ll be ready to share! I can’t wait to show you!

3. Make more things (I think number one on this list will keep me plenty busy with this one!) I started with a pretty floral headband tonight. Hoping to get a tutorial set up and posted for that one soon!

4. Audition. More on that later <3

Got any goals for the month?ChelsSANY3701

The Makings of a Snow Day

Snow days are the best. Bear and I just got snowed in together for two whole days and it was so relaxing! Sadly, I’ll be returning to work this morning. The roads are still icy and a bit dangerous, so I’m hoping for safe travels! Here’s a look at how I spent my snow days:

fit to be tied… turban style

DSC_0203banner

Dying to try the new turban style, but don’t want to shell out the dough (or dig out the sewing machine) for a fancy one? Use this handy DIY turban guide and get the same look for less! I used a fabric tie belt, but you can use any sort of scarf or long scrap of fabric. It’s as easy as 1,2,3!

1. Place the center of the tie across the base of your head in back:

2. Wrap the tie around itself one time:

3. Tie the loose ends in a knot in back! (I’ve also cut off the loose ends and attached snaps to the ends before. Works like a dream!)

VOILA! A chic turban look for zero pennies.
